Who Will Buy?

Who will buy
This wonderful morning?
Such a sky
You never did see!

Who will tie
It up with a ribbon
And put it in a box for me?

So I could see it at my leisure
Whenever things go wrong
And I would keep it as a treasure
To last my whole life long.

Who will buy
This wonderful feeling?
I'm so high
I swear I could fly.

Me, oh my!
I don't want to lose it
So what am I to do
To keep the sky so blue?
There must be someone who will buy...

-Oliver

I really like this lyric...such a lovely morning song. Although I usually can't find the tune when I'm searching for it in my head.

In my recording (from the movie, probably) it's sung by a boy with a very clear voice, and just a hint of a cockney accent...

I was in a summer theater production of Oliver when I was 11, and I sold strawberries in this song. Unfortunately, the boy who was cast as Oliver had just turned 16. And when he auditioned, he still had the lovely boy soprano voice required. However, during performance week, his voice changed. This particular song was especially treacherous. So in my primary memory of this song, I hear a beautiful soprano at the start, his voice crack on the word "buy," followed by a rumbly and not-so-in-control baritone bellow of "this wonderful morning." Kinda dampens the magic.
