The Magendanz Lights

Once again the Magendanzes have outdone themselves with the biggest display of Christmas lights in town – a little Las Vegas – with Santa, Tiny Tim, and Ebenezer Scrooge all standing around the manger; with six wise men, not three, and Frosty, and Rudolph, and the Grinch.

What are Magendanz lights? And how do you say Magendanz?

Magendanz is a last name - they're just some people who live in Lake Wobegon...and on the basis of this quote, they obviously have GREAT taste in Christmas decorations. So, by corollary, 'Magendanz lights' seems like a fitting appellation for any Christmas display that seems to have gotten a bit out of hand.

The stress goes on the last syllable, which is pronounced like the word dance. Mag is like magazine, and en is like en. Actually, if you start to say magazine and end in ndance instead, you've more or less got it. I'm making this a lot more complicated than it really is...
